I think PowerPoint has helped in education. I have seen it used very successfully in schools. I have also delivered classes using PowerPoint while in the Army. After watching the videos presented in this module, I may have used too many words on my slides and used my presentation as a script to read from. In my defense, I was young and very nervous about presenting a class to a room full of Senior Non-Commissioned Officers.
I think one of the most important things to remember is that PowerPoint should be used as a visual aid, not a format to show your entire speech. Another is that it must be engaging and relevant to your topic. The presentation shown should include something to connect the visual on the screen to the point you are trying to convey.
I learned from this that PowerPoint allows you to edit the pictures your putting into your slides and you can crop out the background. This information would have been helpful when my daughter had to create a presentation for her class that included pictures. I will experiment with this option further.
